Abstract

Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner pemahaman Nature of Science (NOS).

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to see the enhancement of students' understanding of the science of science (NOS) on solar materials through the use of teaching materials based on Socioscientific Issues. The research method used is pre experimental with one group pretest-postest design. This research was conducted in one of Junior High School in Bandung in class IX using random sampling technique, by choosing one class from eleven classes. The study participants involved 26 students. The research instrument is an understanding of Nature of Science (NOS) questionnaire. The results of the analysis using assessment guidance, Das, et al (2008) found an increase in the understanding of the students' Nature of Science (NOS), with 6 from 7 aspects of Nature of Science undergoing change of understanding. A naive view becomes a transitional view and from a transitional perspective to an infromed view. The results show that the use of teaching materials based on Socioscientific Issues can improve the understanding of the students' Nature of Science.
