In previous research, the author examined the effect of the theoretical explanation of the Japanese adnominal clause on the learners’ understanding. However, in this research, it was discovered that students’ knowledge of case particles in Japanese is a key determinant of understanding Japanese adnominal clauses. In this research, the author tries to examine the effect of students’ understanding of case particles in Japanese through the concept of Kou (argument) in verbs. In line with previous research, in this research, the author also tries to bridge the theoretical concepts of linguistics so that they can be applied to Japanese language learning in the classroom. In this research, the author took 20 second-year students as a sample and divided them into two groups. In the experimental group, the author used the Focus on Form (FoF) method to teach the concept of the verb “argument” so that students could determine the correct Japanese case particles. Meanwhile, in group control, they only do pattern practice exercises like a normal class. The test analysis results of the two groups after attending the experimental class did not show any significant differences. In future research, it is necessary to look at the long-term influence of applying linguistic theory in the classroom.2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 JAPANEDU: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Bahasa Jepanghttps://ejournal.upi.edu/index.php/japanedu/article/view/63168The Concept of Japanese Culture in Lean Production of the Toyota Automobile Company: Its Scientific Development and Application in Higher Education and Agriculture2024-02-28T10:56:03+07:00Valery Vladimirovich Glushchenkovalery.v.glushchenko@gmail.comThe purpose of the article is to create a scientific theory of lean production of goods and services (the theory of thrift), from the perspective of Japanese culture which is applicable in higher education and agriculture. A request is one of the speech acts that may raise face-threatening potentials. Understanding the stages of request appropriate to Japanese culture is thus essential for Japanese learners to achieve successful conversation. Therefore, conversation pedagogy by using a discourse approach is essential. This study investigates a potential structure gap in Japanese making-requests conversations realized in actual settings and textbook conversational models. By employing genre theory and interpersonal discourse of “Negotiation” as a qualitative discourse analytic method from the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) perspective, this paper describes the gaps and some factors that potentially influence the structure of Japanese making-request conversation. Data were obtained from conversational texts in the Japanese language corpus named Japanese Natural Conversation Corpus and Japanese textbooks for elementary and middle adult learners. Regarding the structure, the results show no difference between conversations in textbooks and authentic ones at the stage level, but both differ at the phase level. There is no introduction to the problem, additional explanation, and confirmation phases in textbook conversational models. In addition, the absence of the phases, the differences in pre-condition content between textbook and authentic conversations, also the length of the reasoning phase, are assumed to be influenced by relational status between participants (tenor) as well as the imposition degree of the requested object.2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 JAPANEDU: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Bahasa Jepanghttps://ejournal.upi.edu/index.php/japanedu/article/view/63174Japan’s Success Story in Fostering Collective Responsibility in Suicide Prevention: The Power of Unity2024-02-28T10:57:27+07:00Moses Adeleke Adeoyeprince.adelekm@gmail.comPaul Olaolu Akinnubiprinceadelekm@gmail.comDrawing insights from Japan’s inspiring initiatives, this article uncovers the valuable lessons that can be learned in addressing suicide issues with collective responsibility. This study attempts to investigate the importance of cooperation in Japan’s effectiveness in promoting collective responsibility for suicide prevention. Suicide is a significant public health issue around the world, and Japan has historically had high suicide rates. However, by employing several initiatives that prioritize shared responsibility and community involvement, Japan has recently achieved impressive strides in reducing suicide rates. This paper analyzes the crucial elements such as cultural elements, social support networks, and government initiatives that have contributed to Japan’s success. It also looks at how these strategies affect suicide prevention and emphasizes the lessons that other countries can learn from Japan’s experience. According to the study’s findings, the power of unity in combination with targeted therapy can effectively address the challenging issue of suicide prevention.2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 JAPANEDU: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Bahasa Jepanghttps://ejournal.upi.edu/index.php/japanedu/article/view/63164Utilizing Japanese Community Engagement: Understanding Malaysian Traditional Music Therapy for Children with Special Needs2024-02-28T10:57:49+07:00Noorlila Ahmadyazid3338@ukm.edu.myAbu Yazid Abu Bakaryazid3338@ukm.edu.myThis study suggests an intervention treatment relating to the dances and songs of “Dikir Barat” and “Kuda Kepang” and utilizes the distinctive methods of Malay traditional performance. The audience for this study, which comprised students and people with special needs, was polled using a survey questionnaire that was provided as part of a special concert. The descriptive analysis of the 5-point Likert scale survey’s 20 items yielded the proportion of each item. As a result, it has been found that shows, particularly those that incorporate the performing arts of singing, dancing, and acting, greatly affect and have an impact on groups with special needs. This research discusses how Japanese female idols are represented in the opening soundtrack of the anime song “Oshi no Ko” which is currently being discussed among Japanese idol fans. The song titled “Idol” is the work of a duo band known as Yoasobi, telling a story of anxiety and sadness in the romance of Japanese youth life but accompanied by uplifting techno music. When song lyrics are made based on commercial interests, the meaning of the text should be criticized to find out who is in a dominating position and who is not. The song “Idol” in this research is analyzed using Sara Mills’sCritical Discourse Analysis (CDA) (1997) with a feminist perspective to analyze the presentation of the storyteller (subject) and the told (object). The results of this study show that the position of female idols as objects is shown as a figure who does not talk about herself much, her desires and feelings are less well conveyed. Female idols are shown more from the fans’ point of view as the position of the storyteller (subject). The position of female idols in the lyrics is only shown by stereotypical idol characters who are required to have a positive image, have high loyalty to fans, are required to be perfect by covering all flaws, and are prohibited from dating. Although the song “Idol” is an anime soundtrack that discusses the other side of idol life, in this song, the opportunity to voice the thoughts and what female idols want to express is not well displayed. Thus, the lyricist only presents female idols based on what they want for the sake of desire and sexual objects. This research only uses one main data source, namely song lyrics. It is hoped that future research can use a variety of main data sources such as anime or manga.
2023-12-25T00:00:00+07:00Copyright (c) 2023 JAPANEDU: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pengajaran Bahasa Jepang
