Abstract

As a future chemistry teacher, scientific literacy is a pivotal skill for pre service chemistry teacher. In this study, we evaluated whether there is a difference between pre-service chemistry teacher with international and Indonesian students’ scientific literacy based on PISA and TIMSS. Samples were 149 students from four universities in Aceh, Indonesia. Scientific literacy was expressed in proportion correct and the data were analyzed statistically. Results suggested that difference between pre-service chemistry teachers scientific literacy with international and Indonesian students PISA results was insignificant. Opposite result was found for TIMSS results. Implication for chemistry education program is discussed.
