Abstract

This paper explores the possibility of using the Competitive Intelligence (CI) process in the management of educational institutions. The method used is the analysis and synthesis of various literatures that discuss the CI process. Furthermore, the process in CI will be analyzed primarily with regard to the possibility of applying the CI process in the management of educational institutions. CI is commonly used in profit-oriented institutions, especially large companies. How ever it is still open to the possibility that CI is applied to non-profit-oriented institutions such as public services and educational institutions. Based on a literature review, it was found that the use of CI processes in educational institutions can improve institutional performance, improve knowledge sharing practices and the potential for organizational innovation, so that educational institutions can achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Insights from CI and the idea of knowledge management will produce information to improve better decision making processes that enable the performance of more competitive educational institutions. A good CI process is determined by how to identify the competitive needs of the institution.
