Virtual Reality sebagai Inovasi Edukasi Mental Atlet: Pendekatan Transactional Model of Stress and Coping
Abstract
Kesehatan mental merupakan faktor kunci dalam mendukung performa atlet, terutama pada atlet muda yang rentan menghadapi tekanan kompetitif. Kecemasan dan gejala psikosomatis yang muncul sebelum maupun selama pertandingan berpotensi menurunkan kesiapan fisik, kestabilan emosional, dan kualitas performa. Urgensi inilah yang melatarbelakangi pelaksanaan program pengabdian masyarakat berupa edukasi kesehatan mental berbasis Transactional Model of Stress and Coping serta Yerkes-Dodson Law, dengan inovasi tambahan berupa pemanfaatan teknologi Virtual Reality (VR) untuk latihan relaksasi dan healing kecemasan. Kedua teori tersebut digunakan untuk membantu atlet memahami bagaimana proses penilaian kognitif terhadap stres memengaruhi reaksi emosional dan strategi coping yang dipilih, serta bagaimana tingkat arousal yang optimal dapat menghasilkan performa terbaik. Program ini dirancang dalam bentuk pelatihan interaktif yang mengombinasikan wawasan konseptual, keterampilan praktis, serta media digital. Atlet diajak mengenali tanda-tanda awal kecemasan, mempelajari teknik coping problem-focused maupun emotion-focused, mempraktikkan relaksasi pernapasan dan self-talk positif, serta menggunakan audio dan video VR sebagai sarana relaksasi terpandu. Edukasi ini diharapkan tidak hanya bersifat preventif, tetapi juga menjadi sarana pemberdayaan mental jangka panjang bagi atlet muda. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa 67,4% atlet mengalami kecemasan pra-kompetisi, 10,9% cemas saat kompetisi, dan 19,6% mengalami gejala psikosomatis sebelum pertandingan. Data ini memperkuat relevansi teori yang digunakan, dimana tingginya arousal tanpa strategi coping yang tepat dapat mengganggu performa. Program ini terbukti memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam meningkatkan kesadaran, pemahaman, serta keterampilan manajemen stres dan kecemasan, sehingga atlet lebih siap menghadapi tekanan kompetitif dan mampu menjaga performa secara berkelanjutan.
