Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to improve comprehensive sexual literacy among students at SMP Negeri 9 Maros through an interactive educational approach involving pretest and post-tests, open discussions, and participatory quizzes. A total of 30 students participated in this activity, which covered three key aspects of sexual literacy: understanding facts and myths about sexuality, reproductive health, and the importance of accessing reliable information to prevent misconceptions related to sexuality. The results showed a significant improvement in students' understanding across several areas, particularly regarding menstrual facts (from 73% to 100%), nocturnal emissions (from 96% to 100%), contraceptive use (from 56% to 70%), awareness of sexual myths (from 20% to 36%), pregnancy risks related to petting (from 43% to 77%), and reproductive health awareness (from 83% to 93%). However, three indicators remained stagnant: understanding of sexual identity (57%), menstrual hygiene practices (33%), and proper use of underwear (63%), indicating the need for more in-depth and specific educational follow-up. Overall, the interactive education method proved effective in enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of sexual issues in a scientific and healthy manner, while also encouraging confidence to engage in discussions within a safe and inclusive space.
