Abstract

ABSTRACT

Misconceptions often occur in learning physics in senior high school, one of which occurs in static fluid. The ignored misconception will cause problems for students when understanding the material in the next learning. This research was conducted to determine the profile of students' misconceptions regarding the concept of physics in static fluid. To find the occured misconception, researcher used the diagnostic test four tier test. This research employed quantitative descriptive method which was conducted on 31 students of senior high school in Bandung. From the results of the research that had been executed, the obtained data on misconceptions that occur in the concept of pressure on the fluid, namely: 41.94% occurs in hydrostatic pressure and 41.94% occurs in the pressure on the fluid in an isolation system. As for concept of buoyancy, namely: 38.71% occurs in the relationship of the volume of immersed objects to buoyancy force and 32.26% occurs in the relation of fluid density to buoyancy force. The results of this study were taken into consideration to develop learning with the application of Conceptual Change Text (CCT) teaching materials.
