PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL DALAM MENGEMBANGKAN LITERASI POLITIK

Abstract


Penggunaan media sosial saat ini sudah menjadi kebutuhan primer setiap mahasiswa, termasuk mahasiswa di Indonesia dan Malaysia. Aktivitas penggunaan media sosial dilakukan untuk mendapatkan hiburan, eksistensi, bahkan informasi seputar politik. Penelitian ini fokus pada penggunaan media sosial dalam mengembangkan literasi politik di kalangan mahasiswa di Indonesia dan Malaysia. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif, dengan metode survei, sampel dalam penelitian sejumlah 100 mahasiswa, analisis data dilakukan dengan studi komparatif untuk mengetahui perbedaan dan persamaan di antara mahasiswa Indonesia dan Malaysia. Tujuan penelitian ini berupaya untuk mengungkap bagaimana penggunaan media sosial terhadap literasi politik mahasiswa di Indonesia dan Malaysia. Mahasiswa Malaysia dan Indonesia sebagai cara untuk memahami realitas perbedaan literasi politik diantara dua negara.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat persamaan antara mahasiswa di Indonesia dan Malaysia bahwa media sosial dapat mengembangkan literasi politik dengan kategori kesadaran dalam kegiatan politik lokal, nasional dan internasional, hak dan kewajiban sebagai warga negara, memahami istilah baru dalam politik dan percaya serta yakin dalam menentukan pilihan pada pemilihan umum.
