PEMANFAATAN DAUN RAMBUTAN, MANGGA, DAN ALPUKAT SEBAGAI PEWARNA ALAM BATIK: STUDI KASUS RUMAH BATIK SHANUMESTY KOTA PADANG
Abstract
This study explores natural dyeing based on rambutan, mango, and avocado leaves in batik production at Rumah Batik Shanumesty, Lubuk Begalung, Padang. Using a qualitative case study, data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the owner, artisans, production staff, and supporting workers. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, with credibility supported by triangulation, member checking, and audit trail. Findings show that local leaves are selected because they are accessible and produce soft, distinctive colors. Extraction uses approximately 1 kg leaves to 12 L water, boiled until half of the volume remains, filtered, and stored overnight. Color quality is influenced by leaf condition, boiling duration, extract concentration, repeated immersion, drying weather, mordanting, and fixator type. This study contributes a locally grounded natural dyeing model for textile learning, batik UMKM practice, and further experimental research.
Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pewarnaan alam berbasis daun rambutan, daun mangga, dan daun alpukat pada produksi batik di Rumah Batik Shanumesty, Lubuk Begalung, Kota Padang. Penelitian menggunakan studi kasus kualitatif dengan data observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi terhadap pemilik, pengrajin, tenaga produksi, dan tenaga pendukung. Data dianalisis melalui kondensasi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan/verifikasi kesimpulan, sedangkan kredibilitas diperkuat melalui triangulasi, member checking, dan audit trail. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daun lokal dipilih karena mudah diperoleh dan menghasilkan warna lembut yang khas. Ekstraksi menggunakan perbandingan sekitar 1 kg daun dan 12 L air, direbus hingga tersisa setengah volume, disaring, dan didiamkan semalaman. Kualitas warna dipengaruhi kondisi daun, lama perebusan, konsentrasi ekstrak, pengulangan pencelupan, cuaca pengeringan, mordanting, dan jenis fiksator. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada model pewarnaan alam lokal bagi pembelajaran tekstil, praktik UMKM batik, dan penelitian eksperimental lanjutan.
