Tradisi Ruwatan Wayang Golek sebagai Pilar Ketahanan Sosial Budaya di Era Globalisasi: Studi di Desa Mulyasari, Kota Banjar

Abstract


Indonesia possesses a rich variety of cultural traditions, one of which is the wayang golek ruwatan tradition in Mulyasari Village, Banjar City. This study analyzes the tradition as a pillar of socio-cultural resilience in the era of globalization. The ruwatan ceremony functions as a form of local wisdom that reflects the community’s worldview, social values, and spiritual beliefs. In the midst of modernization and lifestyle changes, this tradition faces challenges to its continuity; however, it simultaneously demonstrates adaptability and the capacity to sustain cultural identity. This research employs a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with community leaders, cultural practitioners, and local residents, as well as documentation of wayang golek ruwatan performances. Data were analyzed thematically to identify the cultural functions and resilience strategies embedded in the tradition. The findings reveal that the wayang golek ruwatan tradition serves as an instrument of socio-cultural resilience by fostering collective identity, intergenerational cultural transmission, and moral education. The performance conveys at least 18 core character values, including religiosity, nationalism, honesty, tolerance, creativity, discipline, peace-loving attitudes, and environmental awareness. These values strengthen social cohesion and reinforce community solidarity amid global cultural influences. Furthermore, the adaptation of performance contexts and narratives enables the tradition to remain relevant in contemporary society. This study concludes that the wayang golek ruwatan tradition not only preserves ancestral heritage but also embodies a dynamic form of cultural resilience, ensuring the sustainability of local identity in the era of globalization. The findings contribute to broader discussions on cultural sustainability, heritage preservation, and the role of traditional arts in strengthening socio-cultural resilience.

 

Abstrak

Indonesia memiliki keragaman tradisi budaya yang kaya, salah satunya tradisi wayang golek ruwatan di Desa Mulyasari, Kota Banjar. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tradisi tersebut sebagai pilar ketahanan sosial budaya di era globalisasi. Tradisi ruwatan dipahami sebagai warisan budaya lokal yang merefleksikan pandangan hidup, nilai sosial, dan keyakinan spiritual masyarakat. Dalam konteks modernisasi dan perubahan gaya hidup, tradisi ini menghadapi tantangan terhadap keberlanjutannya; namun demikian, tradisi ini juga menunjukkan kapasitas adaptif dan kemampuan mempertahankan identitas budaya lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografis. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh masyarakat, pelaku budaya, dan warga setempat, serta dokumentasi pertunjukan wayang golek ruwatan. Data dianalisis secara tematik untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi budaya dan mekanisme ketahanan yang terkandung dalam tradisi tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa wayang golek ruwatan berfungsi sebagai instrumen ketahanan sosial budaya melalui penguatan identitas kolektif, transmisi nilai antargenerasi, dan pendidikan karakter. Pertunjukan ini memuat sedikitnya 18 nilai karakter inti seperti religiusitas, nasionalisme, kejujuran, toleransi, kerja keras, kedisiplinan, kreativitas, cinta damai, dan kepedulian lingkungan. Nilai-nilai tersebut memperkuat kohesi sosial dan solidaritas masyarakat di tengah tekanan globalisasi. Selain itu, kemampuan tradisi ini untuk menyesuaikan konteks dan narasi menjadikannya tetap relevan dalam kehidupan masyarakat masa kini. Dengan demikian, wayang golek ruwatan tidak hanya melestarikan warisan leluhur, tetapi juga merepresentasikan bentuk ketahanan budaya yang dinamis dan strategis dalam menjaga keberlanjutan identitas lokal di era global.
