Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine an improvement of child’s resilience through positive cognitive triad with cognitive behavior therapy approach. The participant was BS, an 8-year-old girl who was in second grade in one of private elementary schools in Jakarta. She once had an unpleasant experience with one of the teachers, so she always displayed evasive behaviour, either avoiding for school attendance or doing assignments. The design in this study was a single-subject pre-post design. The intervention program was held within 8 sessions with a follow-up session that was given 2 weeks after. The instruments used for this research are Resilience Scale for Children and Adolescence (RSCA) to measure resilience, Cogntitive Triad Inventory-for Children (CTI-C) to measure positive cognitive triad, and customized BS rating scale (BSRS) to measure the intensity of avoidant behavior also negative emotions shown by BS. The results of this study showed an improvement of resiliency and positive cognitive triad, also decreased intensity of behavior problems at the end of the intervention program.
