PENGARUH TIPE KEPRIBADIAN DAN HARAPAN TERHADAP PENYESUAIAN DIRI ANAK DIDIK PEMASYARAKATAN

Abstract


The purposes of this research were to know whether hope mediates the effect of personality traits on adjustment. The participant were 85 young inmates in Juvenile Hall IIA Tangerang. Big Five Inventory (BFI), Adult’s Dispositional Hope Scale (ADHS) and Adjustment Scale were the instruments to measure the variables. Correlation and Regression Analysis were used to analyze the purpose of the research. The results showed that 1) hope failed to mediate association of personality and adjustment 2) aggreableness had influence to adjustment 3) openness had the highest contribution to hope 4) hope was positively related to adjustment. This study give a suggests for prison staff to give career counseling for inmates. The recommendation for next studies is using hope as a moderator variable.


Abstrak

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji peran harapan dalam memediasi pengaruh tipe kepribadian the big five terhadap penyesuaian diri. Anak Didik Pemasyarakatan (Andikpas) di Lembaga Pemasyarakatan (Lapas). Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 85 orang Andikpas di Lapas Anak Kelas IIA Tangerang. Data diperoleh melalui instrumen Big Five Inventory (BFI) yang mengukur tipe kepribadian, Adult’s Dispositional Hope Scale(ADHS) yang mengukur tingkat harapan, dan instrumen penyesuaian diri. Teknik analisis Pearson-product moment dipilih untuk mengetahui korelasi antar variabel, serta analisis regresi untuk menguji peran variabel mediator. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan 1) harapan tidak memediasi pengaruh tipe kepribadian terhadap penyesuaian diri 2) tipe kepribadian yang memiliki kontribusi terbesar bagi penyesuaian diri adalah aggreableness 3) tipe kepribadian yang paling berpengaruh bagi harapan adalah openness 4) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara harapan dan penyesuaian diri. Temuan ini memberikan rekomendasi bagi pihak Lapas untuk memberikan orientasi lingkungan dan konseling karir bagi Andikpas, dan bagi peneliti selanjutnya disarankan untuk menguji harapan sebagai variabel moderator.
