KAJIAN DESAIN BIOFILIK PLACE-BASED RELATIONSHIPS TERHADAP BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Abstract


Globalisasi yang terjadi pada era modern kini semakin mengaburkan batasan teritori dan budaya dengan membawa berbagai pengaruh dari luar ke dalam negeri. Semakin cepatnya gerak kehidupan manusia juga mendorong produksi massal dan standarisasi disertai dengan modernisasi yang dibawa globalisasi menyebabkan banyaknya built environment atau bangunan yang terkesan sama, tidak bermakna, dan kurang sustainable. Fenomena ini disebut Relph, seorang ahli geografis, dengan istilah placelessness. Dampak lain dari globalisasi ini adalah disneyfication dimana terjadi banyak peniruan gaya bangunan luar yang diterapkan di luar konteks dan makna aslinya. Hal-hal ini berdampak terhadap terkikisnya lokalitas serta apresiasi terhadap bangunan berbudaya (cultural spaces) di Indonesia dimana seharusnya budaya dan lingkungan lokal dijaga karena merupakan tempat tinggal dan identitas masyarakat. Tulisan studi literatur ini membahas mengenai place-based relationships yang merupakan salah satu atribut desain biofilik sebagai salah satu cara menjaga keberlangsungan aspek lokalitas dalam built environment atau lingkungan buatan. place-based relationships ini dikaji bersama dengan atribut desain biofilik lainnya yang berperan sama pentingnya untuk menciptakan built environment yang berkualitas bagi manusia maupun keberlangsungan lingkungan sekitar. Tulisan ini dikaji menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teori desain biofilik berdasarkan pada buku Biophilic Design : The Theory, Science, and Practice of Bringing Buildings to Life yang didukung dengan jurnal ilmiah lainnya. Hasil akhir ditemukan bahwa atribut desain biofilik lain dapat mendukung terbentuknya tempat yang memiliki kualitas place-based atau lokalitas dan bahwa penerapan desain ini dapat membantu menumbuhkan kepekaan manusia terhadap lingkungan lokalnya (sense of place), keterikatan emosional (place attachment), dan bahkan mendorong kepedulian manusia untuk menjaga keberlangsungan tempat (spirit of place).
