Abstract

Landmark architecture has a principle to highlight an area based on the character that characterizes the area. This approach is considered important to be applied in Jepara, where a landmark in the form of a building does not yet exist. The only landmarks in Jepara are monuments/statues. In the design of shopping arcade in Jepara Regency, the application of the landmark approach is deemed appropriate since Jepara is a developing area, especially its economic sector through commodity products, and it is not on the main connecting route between provinces, so that with the presence of landmark architectural buildings it is expected to be able to generate economy in Jepara, to not only rely on furniture commodities, but the local potential of other industrial commodities. On the other hand, as the regional economy improves, the needs of local residents also increase, which results in local residents preferring to go to outside the area to fulfill their needs. Based on regional statistical data for 2022, the number of modern shopping centers, especially those that accommodate commodity products in Jepara Regency, is still limited. The design of this shopping arcade uses a qualitative method in the form of data collection through literature studies on shopping arcades and landmark architecture. The landmark architecture in this shopping arcade design uses scale, color, and shape criteria which will be applied to the building facade, so that it is easily visible to the human eye scale, and mass composition so that it is visible on an environmental scale.
