Abstract

Urban infrastructure development is needed to support the activities of the community and it is not uncommon for the purpose of infrastructure development to boost the economic conditions of a city itself. As time goes by, the population growth of developed cities will certainly increase and land limitations are unavoidable. One way to overcome the shortage of land in a city is to reclaim it. Makassar City, the fourth largest city in Indonesia and the largest in Eastern Indonesia, has implemented reclamation since 2016. Reclamation in Makassar City is in the Coastal Area, namely Losari Beach and now people know this new area as CPI (Center Point of Indonesia). The CPI area itself has an area of 600 hectares with various facilities and infrastructure that have been built and will be built, such as universities, schools, elite housing, apartments, hotels, platforms, mosques, state guesthouses, hospitals and towers. Some of the positive impacts that can be seen from the reclamation of this area are that the city of Makassar is slowly turning into a world city. On the other hand, the opposition to this reclamation has long been felt by the surrounding community. Reclamation of this area has produced many destructive conditions both in terms of the environment and existing city facilities such as drainage.
