THE APPLICATION OF A SPACE FLEXIBILITY APPROACH IN DESIGNING A CREATIVE HUB IN JEPARA REGENCY

Slamet Warsito, Desrina Ratriningsih

Abstract

The creative economy has made a significant contribution to the national economy. It can be seen from the growth in added value from the creative economy sector above the growth of other sectors every year. Supporting this, the Jepara Regency government is trying to improve the region’s creative economy by prioritizing the crafts sector, which is the main support for the economy in Jepara, followed by the fashion and culinary sectors. However, the lack of facility for creative industry players to interact with each other hampers innovation and collaboration. The design of the Jepara Creative Hub is expected to accommodate creative actors to develop their ideas and collaboration. The initial step in the design method is to understand the issue and collect data from literature and observations to support the approach to creative hub design. Jepara Creative Hub, designed using the concept of space flexibility, is expected to accommodate a variety of user activities efficiently and effectively.
