PENERAPAN MODEL PBL UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS PADA PELAJARAN IPS SD

Abstract


the background of this research is still low student critical thinking skill. learning is more teacher-centered and less facilitates students to think critically. teachers only occasionally provide questions that demand students to think and find answers yourself. this research aims to describe the implementation and improvement of students' critical thinking skills in social studies using the pbl model. this research method is classroom action research. method by adapting model from kemmis & taggart which implemented in two cycles in one of elementary school of bandung. the subjects of the research were students of grade V as many as 32 people. PTK is done by applying pbl learning model consisting of 5 stages, namely: directing students to problem /orientation problem; organizing students to lean; assisting individual/group investigation; developing and presenting the work; and analyze and evaluate the problem-solving process. indicators of critical thinking skills measured in this study are: identify the problem; collecting necessary information; to find ways that can be used to deal with the problem; using a language that is clear; using a logical reason; and draw conclusions. the results of this study showed improvement of students' critical thinking skills from cycle I by 59% to 88% in cycle II. the conclusion of this research application of PBL model can improve the critical thinking skills of grade V students in social studies of elementary school.
