PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN RME UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA KELAS IV SD
Abstract
Abstract: The background of this research is the lack comprehension ability of mathematical concept of fourth grade students of elementary school. The learning only uses lecture and assignment methods without involving students directly in the learning activities of mathematics. This study objective to describe the planning, process and improvement of students' understanding of mathematical concept using Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. The research method used Classroom Action Research Method/Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) by adapting the model of Kemmis & Taggart which is implemented in two cycles. The subjects of this study are the fourth grade students in one of the State Elementary School in Bandung of the 2017/2018 academic year with 31 students, consisting of 14 female students and 17 male students with different characteristics and abilities. This research is conducted by applying the stages of RME approach principle, that is didactical phenomenology, guided reinvention, self develop model. The indicators of understanding concepts in this study is to determine the main ideas, make questions, answer questions, and make a conclusions. The data of research result show that the application of RME approach has increased. In cycle I the average of students' mathematical concept comprehension is 61.29% and increased to 93.54% in cycle II. The conclusion of this research is the application of RME approach can improve the ability of understanding mathematical concept of fourth students of elementary school.
