PENERAPAN METODE PQRST UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS III SD

Abstract


The background of this research is the low level of reading comprehension skill.During the learning process, the teacher lacks of involving the students that makes thelearning process is teacher-centered. Even in reading process, the teacher dictates thestudents in completing the exercise. This research aims to describe the planning, process,and reading comprehension improvement by using PQRST method. The method used isClassroom Action Research (CAR) by implementing Kemmis & Mc.Taggart models. Thesubject of this research is 22 people of third grade students in one of elementary schoolsin Bandung city. This research is conducted by implementing the stages of PQRST method.The indicator of reading comprehension skill improvement is making questions based onthe text, deciding the main sentence, rewriting the text with their own word in sequence,and answering the questions based on the text. The findings showed that there is animprovement after implementing the PQRST method from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, theaccomplishment of students’ reading comprehension skill is 63,64% and in cycle II, itbecomes 86,36%. From this research, it can be concluded that the PQRST method canimprove the third grade elementary school students’ reading comprehension skill.
