PENERAPAN STRATEGI PQRST UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS V SD

Abstract


This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension skill on 5th grade student of public elementary school in Bandung. The low ability of reading comprehension because students who are lazy to read, and read only recite words without understanding them. This research aims to describe the application of the PQRST strategy to improve reading comprehension skill of 5th grade elementary school students in Bandung. This study has been done by using Research Method of Class with Model of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which are: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Research subjects amounted to  27 students and the research carried out two cycles. The instrument used in this research are observation sheet of PQRST strategy, student worksheets and documentation. Quantitative data is processed using percentage statistics. While the qualitative data processed through data reduction steps, display data, and verification. The result of research showed an enhancement in reading comprehension skills of 5th grade public school X in Bandung The average score in first cycle was 81.9 with percentage of passing the test is 74%. In second cycle the score increased to 88 with the percentage of passing the test reaching 89%.
