PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS MASALAH UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
This research driven by the low mathematical problem-solving abilities of third grade students in one of elementary schools in Bandung city. This is because teachers only apply conservative learning models that are less suitable for evolving high-level thinking, so students less able to solve mathematical problems. This research purposes to describe application of a problem-based learning model to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities of third grade elementary school students in Bandung city. The method used is Class Action Research (CAR) with a model Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The research subjects were 31 students and the research conducted in two cycles. Data collected through observation techniques, field notes, and tests. Quantitative data administered using percentage statistics, while qualitative data administered through data reduction steps, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results exposed an increasing in mathematical problem-solving abilities of third grade students in first cycle get 35.5% and 25.8% in second cycle. In pre-cycle get a percentage 29% of completeness. While in first cycle get a percentage 64.5%. Then in cycle II student learning completeness increased to 90.3%. Based on these data it can be concluded that application of problem-based learning models improves students' mathematical problem-solving abilities
