Abstract


Abstract: This research is driven by the low ability of reading comprehension in grade III students of SDN A in Bandung. The low ability of reading comprehension due to learning that is less students caring and training to improve reading comprehension skills. This research aims to describe the implementation of the DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) strategy to improve reading comprehension skills in third grade students of SDN A in Bandung. The research method used is CAR (Classroom Action Research) and used Kemmis and Taggart models. The research subjects were 26 students who were students of class III A SDN A in Bandung city. Data collection techniques used test and non-test techniques with qualitative data processing techniques (reduction, presentation and verification) and quantitative techniques. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results showed an increasing from cycle I to cycle II with the completion rate of students who got the KKM score were more than 85%. This indicates that the implementation of the DRTA strategy is able to improve the reading ability of students in grade III SDN A in Bandung.
