PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (RME) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA KELAS IV SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract
Abstract: This research is motivated by the low understanding of mathematical concepts. It is indicated by the amount of students who still experience difficulty in learning mathematis which caused them unable to complete the KKM. The study aims to describe the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to improving the ability of fourth grade students in elementary school to understand the mathematical concepts. Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with model by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The participants of the study were twenty-three of fourth grade students in one of elementary school in Sukajadi, Bandung. The data were collected through evaluation test, observation and field notes technique. The data obtained are then analyzed into qualitative and quantitative data. After carried out two cycles of research, it results developement in learning process and improvement in students understanding of mathematical concept. So it can be concluded that the application of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve understanding of the mathematical concepts of fourth grade students in elementary school.
