The purpose of this study is to improve the mathematical communication skills of third grade students in elementary schools by applying the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning approach. This study uses a classroom action research method with a model developed by Kemmis and Taggart. This research is motivated by the less skill of mathematical communication that seen from the facts there are still many students who cannot write the appropriate language or mathematical symbols and cannot convey mathematical ideas. The research was applied in one of the public elementary schools in Sukasari District, Bandung City. The subject of this study was 3rd grader of class-A students of SDN A Bandung City Academic Year 2018/2019 with a total of 28 students. The result showed that there was an increase in students’ mathematical communication skills from the first cycle with a percentage of 57% to the percentage of class completeness of 93% in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the RME approach can improve the mathematical communication skills of 3rd grader of class A SDN A Sukasari District, Bandung City Academic Year 2018/2019.
