PENERAPAN MODEL MISSOURI MATHEMATICS PROJECT UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS SISWA

Abstract


The background of this research is based on the low ability of mathematical problem solving. For increasing the ability of student’s mathematical problem solving, the researcher implement Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) model. The purposes of this research are: (1) Describe the teaching learning process by using MMP model. (2) Describe the increasing ability of mathematical problem solving using MMP model. The method used of this research is class action research (PTK), which adopt Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model. There are two cycles in this research and there are 26 students as a subject. The instrument used in this research are observation form and evaluation. Based on the result of observation of each cycle, showsthe mathematic teaching and learning process by using MMP get the positif change from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The analyzing result mathematical problem solving ability shows that average score in the cycle 1 about 71 and increase in cycle 2 about 84. The percentage of teaching class completeness for cycle 1 is 69% and 92% for cycle 2. Based on that result, teaching and learning by the implementation of Missouri Mathematics Project model can increase the ability of student’s mathematical problem solving.
