PENERAPAN METODE SQ3R UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS V SD

Abstract


Poor reading comprehension skill in students, which is found by the researcher when doing observation and interview with the homeroom teacher, become the background of this study. This study focuses on the application of SQ3R method to increase reading comprehension skill in students at V grade fifth-grade students of elementary school. Generally, it aims to obtain how application of SQ3R method to increase reading comprehension skill in fifth-grade students of elementary school. The method that is used is Classroom Action Research Method that adapts Kemmis and Taggart. This research is conducted in two cycles with 31 of the research subject. The minimum graduation criteria (KKM) for the subject of Bahasa Indonesia is 70. Based on the first cycle, there are still many grades of students below the KKM while the average value is 80.06, and learning completeness is around 68%. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, the average value of students increases to be 92.20 and the mastery learning rises to 94%. Based on the results of these improvements, it can be concluded that the application of the SQ3R method can improve reading comprehension skills in fifth-grade students of elementary schools.
