Abstract


This research focuses on the development of illustrated story-based teaching materials to improve the understanding of Civics concepts for second grade elementary school students. This research is based on the background of Civics teaching materials in schools that lack pictures, the teacher's time is limited in developing teaching materials, and the characteristics of second grade students who prefer illustrated stories. The picture story was chosen because it can attract the attention of students to enjoy learning because in it students can explore information and good moral messages so that students can learn something more fun. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of illustrated storybased teaching materials to improve understanding of Civics concepts for grade II elementary school students who can provide insight and knowledge about illustrated story-based teaching materials and as a source of information for future researchers who will develop similar teaching materials. The method used in this research is the Delphi method. The Delphi method is a method by collecting several expert opinions with data collection techniques using questionnaires. In this study, 2 rounds of expert validation were carried out. The subjects in this research consist of several experts who are competent in their fields including material experts, design experts, linguists and education practitioners. The results showed that the teaching materials developed by the researchers were good and feasible to use.
