Abstract

This research focuses on developing teaching materials oriented to flood natural disaster mitigation learning to improve the preparedness of fifth grade elementary school students. This research is motivated by the large number of victims of natural disasters that occur in Indonesia, while learning about disasters, both natural disaster mitigation, preparedness, and disaster response is still rarely found in formal learning. The purpose of this study was to develop teaching materials oriented to flood natural disaster mitigation learning to improve the preparedness of fifth grade elementary school students. The method used in this study is DnD (Design and Development) which was adopted from Richey and Klein. By using the PPE (Planning, production and evaluation) model. There are participants in thisstudy, namely experts to evaluate the feasibility of teaching materials, namely the feasibility of the material, the feasibility of the design and the feasibility of learning. The instruments used are worklogs, expert validation and interviews. The results of the study were calculated using a Likert Scale and processed into qualitative data. The results of data analysis showed that the feasibility level by material experts was 87%, including in the very good category, 82% for design experts in the good category, and 70% in learning experts in the very good category. From these results, teaching materials oriented to flood natural disaster mitigation are suitable to be used to improve the preparedness of fifth grade elementary school students.
