PENGGUNAAN BUKU BACALAH DENGAN BERBANTUAN MEDIA PAPAN SELIP (SLOT BOARD) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN SISWA KELAS II SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract


This research was motivated by the low ability of students to read early. This is shown based on the results of preliminary studies related to initial reading ability, many of the students who meet the Minimum Completion Criteria in Indonesian Literatur. This research is focused on efforts to improve initial reading skills by utilizing reading books with the help of slot board media. In general, this study aims to describe how the use of reading books is assisted by the media of slot boards to improve the initial reading skills of grade II elementary school students. In particular, this study aims to describe: 1) The planning process for the use of reading books is assisted by slot board media to improve the initial reading skills of grade II elementary school students, 2) Implementation of the use of reading books by assisting slot board media to improve the initial reading skills of grade II elementary school students, 3) The results of the use of reading books are assisted by slot board media for improving the initial reading skills of grade II elementary school students. The method used in this study is class action research by adapting the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart models. This study was conducted in three cycles, with the research subjects as many as 13 class II B students, who were in Garut Kota District. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, documentation and learning outcome tests. The findings showed that the use of reading books assisted by the medium of slot boards can improve the initial reading skills of grade II elementary school students. In particular, the findings of this study show that: 1) The use of reading books assisted by slot board media needs to be preceded by forming the lesson plan as a reference in the context of learning, 2) The use of reading books assisted by slot board media can improve the initial reading skills of grade II B students, 3) The use of reading books with the help of slot board media can increase learning activities of grade II students. This is indicated by the average value data in the pre-cycle of 66.4, cycle I of 70.9, cycle II of 75.6 and cycle III of 80.5. The completion of learning cycle I was 46%, cycle II was 62%, and in cycle III it was 85%. Therefore, it is hoped that the use of reading books assisted by slot board media can be applied in Indonesian Literature or any other subjects
