Pelatihan HOTS IPA dalam Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh: Penguatan Peran Guru SD di Kota Cilegon

Abstract


Since the implementation of distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many challenges have emerged, including issues with technology infrastructure, limitations of learning applications, and parental involvement in assisting children. This article examines the implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Natural Sciences learning through Distance Learning involving teachers and parents in the Cilegon City area. The workshop conducted on February 16, 2025, aimed to enhance teachers' understanding and skills in teaching Natural Sciences (IPA) using the HOTS approach. The results showed that HOTS can develop students' critical and creative thinking skills even within the physical limitations of distance learning. This workshop also successfully improved cooperation between teachers and parents, created a more collaborative learning environment, and helped students become more active in learning through an inquiry-based learning approach. However, challenges such as limited devices and internet quality still pose obstacles that must be addressed to optimise HOTS in remote learning. The synergy between schools, homes, and communities is crucial to ensure the successful implementation of HOTS in a more quality and independent education
