Edukasi Gizi Seimbang dan Perilaku Hidup Bersih melalui Media Pangan Lokal dan Permainan Interaktif di SDN 148 Cibaduyut

Abstract


The health and nutritional adequacy of school-age children are essential foundations in supporting their growth and development, as well as their academic achievement. Unfortunately, children's awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition and clean living habits is still relatively low, while many educational programs have unsuccessfully filled the gap between students’ actual knowledge and practice. This community service aims to enhance students' understanding at SDN 148 Cibaduyut of balanced nutrition and the importance of proper hand washing through an educational and interactive approach, as well as to empower them to become agents of change in choosing healthy snacks and maintaining personal hygiene. Activities included distributing tape pudding as an example of nutritious local food, socialising the six steps of hand washing, presenting balanced nutrition material, and playing the educational game ‘Isi Piringku’ (Fill My Plate). The methods used were interactive lectures, demonstrations, and leaflets that focused on fun learning relevant to the students' daily context. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in students' understanding, as evidenced by a rise in the average post-test scores. This programme not only succeeded in improving cognitive knowledge but also generated high enthusiasm, demonstrating that a contextual and enjoyable approach is practical for children's health education. As a social implication, this activity is expected to trigger behavioural changes in the selection of healthy snacks. For sustainability, all teaching materials were handed over to the school so that they could be integrated into the UKS programme and daily learning, with support from teachers and parents.
