Abstrak

Belajar Bahasa secara Holistik : Apakah pandangan Murid?. Pelbagai pendekatan pengajaran bahasa seperti pendekatan struktural, kod-kognitif, dan komunikatif dilaksanakan di bilik darjah. Pendekatan-pendekatan tersebut mempunyai kekuatan dan kelemahan yang tersendiri. Pendekatan kod-kognitif mementingkan kemampuan murid menguasai rumus bahasa. Pendekatan komunikatif pula mementingkan proses komunikasi semata-mata. Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan pelaksanaan pendekatan holistik dalam pengajaran Bahasa Melayu bagi memastikan murid dapat belajar bahasa secara menyeluruh atau holistik. Bagi mendapatkan data tentang pandangan murid terhadap pelaksanaan pendekatan ini, soal selidik dan temu bual separa struktur dijalankan. Bukti dokumen juga digunakan bagi menyokong data. Seratus dua puluh lima murid dilibatkan dalam kajian ini. Mereka terdiri daripada tiga kelas Tingkatan Empat (SMA). Soal selidik dan temu bual ini ditadbirkan kepada murid selepas modul pengajaran dijalankan. Dapatan kajian mendapati proses pembelajaran bahasa secara holistik menarik perhatian murid. Pendekatan ini juga dapat meningkatkan motivasi murid dan kemahiran bahasa murid. Implikasi kajian juga turut dibincangkan.

Abstract

 

Learning Language by Holistic Approach: What Atudent’s View”. A variety of teaching approaches such as structural approach, code-cognitive, communicative was implemented in the classroom. These approaches have their own specific strength and weakness. The cod-cognitive approach emphasizes on the ability of the students to mastering the language competence. The communicative approach likewise to enhance on the communication process only. The purpose of this study is to introduce the implementation of the holistic approach in teaching of the Malay Language to ensure pupils are able to learn the language as a whole or holistic. In order to obtain the student’s views on the implementation of this approach, questionnaire and semi-structured interview was implemented. Document analysis also used in order to support the data. One hundred and twenty five students are involved in this study whose consist of three classes of Form Four (SMA). Questionnaires and interviews were administered to the students after teaching modules run. Results showed that the language process by using the holistic approach is more attractive. This approach is able to increase the student’s motivation and language skills. Implications of the study are also discussed
