Interactive Multimedia Technologies as a Means of Developing 4C Skills in Literary Education

Abstract


This study examines the impact of interactive multimedia technologies on the development of 4C skills—Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity—among high school students engaged in literary education. By incorporating multimedia tools such as interactive e-books, podcasts, video documentaries, and collaborative online platforms into the literary curriculum, the study investigates how these resources influence student engagement and learning outcomes. A total of 100 high school students were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which used multimedia tools, and the control group, which followed traditional text-based methods. The results of the pre- and post-surveys, as well as statistical analyses, showed significant improvements in the 4C skills of the experimental group. Specifically, students in the experimental group exhibited enhanced critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity when compared to the control group. Qualitative feedback from students further confirmed that multimedia tools contributed to a deeper understanding of literary texts, fostered meaningful discussions, and encouraged creative expression. This study concludes that the integration of multimedia technologies into literary education can significantly enhance the development of essential 21st-century skills, offering a more engaging and interactive learning environment. The findings suggest that educators should consider incorporating multimedia tools into their curricula to better prepare students for future academic and professional success.
