Strategies for Improving the Regenerative Performance of the Pancoh Ecotourism Village Master Plan through a Circular Economy Approach
Abstract
The development of eco-tourism villages requires an
approach that is not only sustainability-oriented but also
capable of regeneratively enhancing the ecological capacity
of the area. However, the application of circular economy
principles in eco-tourism village master plans has not yet
been optimally integrated. This study aims to evaluate the
baseline regenerative performance of the Pancoh Ecotourism
Village master plan based on circular economy indicators and
to formulate improvement strategies toward a more circular
regional system. The research method employs a mixedmethods
approach
through
observation,
document
analysis,
interviews,
and
analysis
of
the
Circular
Economy
Index
(CEI)
based
on
indicators
of
local
materials,
material
reuse,
waste
management,
and
material
efficiency.
The
results
show
a
CEI
value
of 44.25%, indicating a transitional stage toward a
regenerative system. This value is supported by high levels of
local material use and the waste circular index, but remains
low in material reuse and material efficiency. A simulation of
improvement strategies indicates an increase in the CEI value
to 54.29%, suggesting a more circular regional system that is
approaching a regenerative state.
