Ethics Statement

ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

This journal, Journal of Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence, adheres to ethical publishing principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [https://publicationethics.org/] and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) [https://wame.org/], as outlined in their Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Publication Processes.

Publication Ethics

Journal of Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence upholds the highest standards of integrity in scholarly publishing. Every manuscript submitted must be original, has not been published previously in any language, and is not currently under consideration by another journal. All submissions must align with the journal's defined aims and scope.

Submitted manuscripts must be grounded in a scientific methodology clearly presented in the content, reflecting the credibility of the research and the institutions supporting it. Ethical conduct is expected from all participants in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers.

The journal promotes research that contributes to the continuous development of knowledge in the fields of mechatronics and artificial intelligence. All parties involved must adhere to responsible publication practices, ensuring the originality and integrity of the scholarly record.

Our editorial decisions are independent of commercial interests, advertisements, or reprint revenue. Where applicable, the Editorial Board may also assist in communication with other journals or publishers in the interest of transparency and ethical collaboration.

Responsibilities of the Authors

Authors submitting to this journal are expected to comply with ethical standards as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). Authors are required to:

  • Originality and Scope Compliance: Ensure that their manuscript is original, not submitted elsewhere, and is within the journal’s scope.

  • Scientific Accuracy and Integrity: Submit manuscripts that honestly report research outcomes, backed by unbiased analysis and sufficient details to enable reproducibility. Misrepresentation of data or fabrication is considered unethical.

  • Data Accessibility: Make available the raw data upon request for editorial review and, where feasible, for public access, while ensuring data retention for a reasonable period post-publication. Authors may request that data remain confidential during the review process.

  • Plagiarism Prevention: Guarantee the work is free from plagiarism. Proper citations must be provided when referencing others’ work. Any form of plagiarism, including copying without acknowledgment or claiming others’ findings, is unacceptable.

  • Authorship Criteria: Include only individuals who made significant contributions to the research. Designations should clearly indicate the first author, co-authors, and corresponding author(s), with all authors approving the submission.

  • Acknowledgment of Contributions: Acknowledge all parties who contributed to the research—through funding, discussions, or technical support—in the appropriate section of the manuscript.

  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Disclose any financial or non-financial interests that may affect the interpretation of the work, at the time of submission.

  • Error Correction: Promptly inform the editorial office if significant errors or inaccuracies are discovered post-publication, and cooperate in retraction or correction procedures.

  • Redundant and Multiple Submissions: Avoid submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal. Articles must not contain duplicated content from previously published work without proper citation.

Responsibilities of the Editors

Editors of the Journal of Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by COPE and WAME. Their responsibilities include:

  • Decision-Making Authority: Have the final responsibility to accept or reject a manuscript, based on the editorial policy, relevance to the journal, originality, and reviewer feedback.

  • Objectivity and Confidentiality: Evaluate submissions impartially, without discrimination based on authors’ identity or background. All editorial communications and content are kept confidential.

  • Conflict of Interest: Refrain from using unpublished materials from submissions for personal research. If an editor has a potential conflict of interest, they should delegate the review to another editorial member.

  • Handling Ethical Concerns: Respond to ethical complaints or issues concerning submitted or published manuscripts. Necessary actions, including corrections, retractions, or statements of concern, will be taken based on evidence and fair communication with authors.

Responsibilities of the Reviewers

Reviewers, as part of the peer-review process, are crucial in maintaining the quality and ethics of publication. Their responsibilities include:

  • Objective Evaluation: Provide constructive, impartial, and timely assessments to help editors make informed decisions. Communication is solely through the editorial team, maintaining a double-blind review process.

  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the content and findings of the manuscript under review, and refrain from sharing or discussing with others without editorial permission.

  • Identification of Sources and Overlaps: Alert editors to any relevant published work not cited by the authors and flag any possible duplication or plagiarism.

  • Conflict of Interest: Avoid reviewing manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest due to personal, academic, or financial relationships with any of the authors or institutions.
