Representasi Matematis Siswa SMP Pada Materi Bangun Ruang

Abstract


This study aims to describe the ability of representations in mathematics in the ninth grade in junior high school students on the topic of solids (cube, cuboid, and pyramid) based on three aspects of representation (verbal, symbolic, and visual). This research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. The subject of this study was ninth-grade students at one of the junior high schools in the city of Bandung, totalling 17 students. The research instrument used in this study was an essay test of the ability to mathematics representation. The results of this study were that five students mastered two aspects, nine students mastered one aspect, and three students did not master all three aspects. Furthermore, 6 out of 17 students were able to use verbal representation, 14 out of 17 students were able to use symbolic representation, and none were able to use visual representation.
