Abstract

Toddlerhood is a golden period (window of opportunity), where malnutrition, such as stunting, can negatively impact future national competitiveness. Stunting leads to physical growth failure, increased illness and death rates, and impaired mental and intellectual development. Affected children often struggle with attention, memory, and learning due to inhibited brain function. This community service was conducted in Manggunjaya Village, Cipedes District, Tasikmalaya City, and included education and training on early detection of child growth using DDST, along with questionnaires to assess mothers’ knowledge before and after intervention. Results showed a significant increase in knowledge (p = 0.03, Wilcoxon test), indicating a positive effect of the intervention on mothers’ understanding of early growth detection and its relation to stunting.
