The Influence of Self-Potential, Professional Perceptions, and Characteristics on Accounting Study Interest with Career Guidance

Yuni Indah Lestari, Ahmad Nurkhim

Abstract

Based on the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) data in 2024, it can be seen that vocational schools are the largest contributor to unemployment at 9.01%. This shows that the absorption of vocational school graduates in the world of work is not optimal. If we observe the 2024 Higher Education Gross Participation Rate (APK) data, it shows a figure of 32%. The Coordinating Ministry for PMK targets the APK for higher education in 2035 to be 45% and 60% in 2045. One way to achieve this target is by continuing education. This study uses a quantitative approach with a hypothesis testing research design. This study involved 140 respondents from class XI AKL SMKN Kebasen. The sampling technique in this study used saturated samples. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistical analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results of this study indicate that there is no influence between self-potential and perception of the accounting profession partially on the interest in continuing undergraduate accounting studies. Personal characteristics have a positive effect on the interest in continuing undergraduate accounting studies. Career guidance cannot partially strengthen the influence of self-potential and personal character on the interest in continuing S1 accounting studies. Career guidance can strengthen the influence of the perception of the accounting profession on the interest in continuing S1 accounting studies.
