GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SERVICE FOR SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION THROUGH BODY SAFETY EDUCATION

Abstract


Children at the elementary school level possess a fundamental right to develop within a safe and protective environment, yet current statistical indicators present a structural emergency of sexual violence against children. Although personal body safety education is dynamically vital, its operational implementation in primary schools remains highly sporadic and significantly lacks standardized guidelines categorized per grade level. This qualitative descriptive study aims to comprehensively analyze primary educators’ conceptual understanding regarding the urgency of body safety, map out the existing preventive programs, identify structural field impediments, and formulate strategic interventions for primary education ecosystems. Data collection was executed utilizing semi-structured interviews and open-ended qualitative questionnaires across two contrasting primary institutions, one with formal guidance and counseling personnel and one without, located in a major urban area. The empirical findings reveal that while educators possess an exemplary conceptual grasp of body safety, the systematic implementation faces severe systemic constraints, including restricted service hours and the absence of a structured curriculum. Institutions with dedicated guidance counselors display formalized structural layout benefits, whereas alternative institutions exhibit localized flexibility through class teacher mentoring. This study concludes that a comprehensive multi-systemic framework consisting of standardized grade-level modules founded on the 5R principles alongside reinforced school-parent synergy is unconditionally required to construct a sustainable child protection ecosystem.
