PENERAPAN METODE CIRC UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS IV SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
This research is motivated by the low ability students to readingcomprehension, based on the results of observations and interviews with class IVteacher in one of the SDN districts of Bandung Wetan, Bandung. This lack ofreading comprehension of students, can be seen from the difficulty of determiningimportant information, determining main ideas, answering questions, makingquestions and writing summaries. This research aims to describe the learningplanning, learning implementation and the improvement of readingcomprehension ability by implementations the CIRC (Cooperative IntegratedReading and Composition) method. In the process of implementing learning, theCIRC method has 3 main steps, namely the pre-reading, reading and post-readingstages. The research method used is PTK (Class Action Research) with a researchmodel according to Kemmis and Taggart in II cycle. The instruments to reveal thedata used consisted of observation sheets, process tests (group worksheets) andcomprehension reading tests (evaluation sheets). The results of the study on theaction of the first cycle obtained a percentage of learning completeness of 70% or23 students with an average value of 78 based on the results of group work sheetsand amounted to 42,5% or 14 students with an average value of 65 students basedon the results of the evaluation sheet. Then the action of cycle II increased to 91%or 30 students with an average value of 96 based on the results of the groupworksheet and by 85% or 23 students with an average value of 83.3 based on theresults of the evaluation sheet. Thus, the implementation of CIRC method canimprove the reading comprehension ability of grade IV elementary schoolstudents
