PENERAPAN STORYTELLING BERBANTUAN PUPPET SHOW UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SISWA KELAS II SD

Abstract


Speaking skills are one aspect of language skills that play an important role ina learning activity. Speaking skills can facilitate communication between teacher andstudents in achieving learning goals. The purpose of this study is to describe theplanning, implementation, and improvement of speaking skills of Grade II ElementarySchool students. This research is motivated by the lack of students' speaking skills inretelling stories they have heard. The research method used was the classroom actionresearch (CAR) method with the research design of Stephen Kemmis & Mc Taggart. Thisresearch was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting,observing, and reflecting. The implementation of this research took place in oneelementary school, in the city of Bandung. The Research subjects were class II B students,amounting to 27 students. The research instrument used was an observation sheet oflearning activities and a speaking skills instrument developed from previous research andbased on the study of the theory referenced. Students' speaking skills have increased ineach cycle. In cycle I, there were 15 students whose speaking skills were declared to becomplete and in cycle II the complete students increased to 23 students. This is becausethe achievement score of each student's speaking indicator increases after the puppetshow assisted storytelling method.
