PENERAPAN METODE GUIDED READING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS IV SD
Abstract
This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade students in elementary school. In solving this problem researchers tried to conduct classroom action research (PTK) by applying the guided reading method. The purpose of this study was to improve the reading comprehension skills of grade IV elementary school students. The class action research model used is the Kemmis and McTaggart model which is carried out through the steps of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting on each cycle. This class action research was carried out in one school in Bandung City, Sumur Bandung District. The subjects of this study were fourth-grade students, totaling 33 students. The techniques used in this study were observation, field notes, and tests. Qualitative data is analyzed through data reduction procedures, data display, and conclusion drawing. While quantitative data were analyzed using average statistics and percentages. The results of this study showed an increase in reading comprehension ability after the guided reading method was applied. The average value of class IV students in the first cycle is 84 with the percentage of comprehension reading comprehension of a 70% increase in the second cycle to 92 with the percentage of completeness of 94%. Thereby, it can be concluded that the application of the guided reading method can improve the reading comprehension ability of grade IV elementary school students.
