PENINGKATAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS MELALUI PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION DI SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract


This research is based on the assumption of the poor mathematical concept of the students. The research is aimed to increase the understanding on mathematical concept of the students through applying the approach of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) in Elementary School. The method that is chooosen is Class Action Research (CAR) from Kemmis and Taggart. The research consists of two cycles and both are conducted in four steps: planning, applying, observing, and reflection. The subject of the research is 31 students of 4 graders in me of Elementary School in Bandung. The technique of the data collecting using observation, test, and action notes. The result shows that the students get progress in understanding mathematical concept through the approach of RME. It is proved on 1st cycle the average of the score is 78 with the 71% of complete learning. And it increases in two cycle i.e 93 with the 94% of complete learning. According to the result of the research, it can be concluded that the increase of understanding in mathematical concept of the students can be reached by applying the approach of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) in Elementary School.
