PENERAPAN STRATEGI PORPE UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS IV SD

Abstract


: This research based on low reading comprehension skills of fourth grade in the elementary school. Based on preliminary observations, students have difficulty to determining the main idea in the text, students have not been able to make conclusions from the text and have difficulty in retelling the text that has been read. It is caused teachers is still the centre of learning. This research was conducted on the implementation of PORPE as strategy to learning. This research aims to describe improvement of student’s reading comprehension of fourth grade elementary school by implementing the PORPE strategy. This research refers to the classroom action research, model according to Kemmis and McTaggart. Data collection methods are observation, field notes, and test. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results of this study indicate that in the first cycle obtained 54% completeness then increased in the second cycle to 92%. The result of the test show that the PORPE strategy can improve student’s reading comprehension of fourth grade in elementary school.
