Abstract

Water resources play an important role in supporting the tourism sector, especially in areas with natural in the form of lakes and rivers. This study aims to conduct an economic assessment of water resources in Brantas Park, Kediri, to estimate the indirect benefits of the water-based tourism sector. This study uses the Travel Cost Method (TCM), which calculates the value of a tourist attraction based on the costs incurred by visitors to access the destination. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations of tourists visiting Brantas Park. The results showed that the total travel cost of tourists to Brantas Park reached IDR2,989,000, with the largest consumption cost (44%). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the variables that influenced the level of tourist visits were travel costs, age, income, and education level. The consumer surplus value calculated based on the tourism demand analysis was estimated at IDR5,224 per individual, with an estimated total economic value of IDR885,656,064 per year, based on 10% of the total number of tourists in Kediri City. This research makes an important contribution in identifying and measuring the economic benefits generated by tourism areas, as well as providing policy recommendations for the sustainable management and development of the tourism sector in Brantas Park.
