Inequality of The Character Education Process in Muhammadiyah Schools
Abstract
The research aims to describe how unequal the character education process is in schools, especially in schools under the auspices of the Muhammadiyah Association. This research examines character education in general and character education in Muhammadiyah schools. How is it implemented and what is the process for each Muhammadiyah school to implement it according to Muhammadiyah references. This research uses qualitative research, with a library study research scheme. Data collection techniques are carried out by studying literature in the library or conducting digital searches. The main sources for this writing are libraries and literature such as research report documents. So documentation techniques were also carried out in this writing. Data analysis was carried out interactively by Miles and Hubermen. Where the first stage is carried out by collecting data, then at the end with the data display stage and drawing conclusions. This article produces several points, firstly, character education has been implemented in both public and private schools. Second, different from state schools, private schools, especially Islamic-based schools, implement character education according to their character. Third, Muhammadiyah schools implement character education by integrating intracurricular and extracurricular activities. Intracurricular activities are carried out by preparing their own curriculum, namely ISMUBA. Extracurricular activities are carried out by integrating autonomous Muhammadiyah organizations into schools, including Tapak Suci, the Muhammadiyah Student Association, and the Hisbul Wathan scouting movement.
