Peningkatan Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa dengan Pendekatan Saintifik dengan Model Pembelajaran Problem-Based Learning Berdasarkan Kategori KAM

Abstract


This research aims to determine the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical communication skills with a scientific approach who receive a Problem-Based Learning model higher than students with a scientific approach alone overall and based on KAM categories. This research is quantitative research using quasi-experimental methods. The research design used was a Pretest-Posttest non-equivalent group design. The population in this study were all tenth-grade students in one of the public senior high schools in Bandung City in the 2023/2024 school year with two classes of them being the research samples taken using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used is a test instrument in the form of mathematical communication ability questions. The research results showed that: 1) the achievement of mathematical communication skills of students with a scientific approach who received the Problem-Based Learning model was higher than students with just a scientific approach as a whole; 2) increasing the mathematical communication skills of students with a scientific approach who receive the Problem-Based Learning model is higher than students with just a scientific approach as a whole; 3) increasing the mathematical communication skills of students with a scientific approach who receive the Problem-Based Learning model is higher than students with a scientific approach alone based on the Initial Mathematical Ability (KAM) category. Therefore, the Problem-Based Learning model can be applied in mathematics learning to improve students' mathematical communication skills.
