Fatigue Effect on Attack Accuracy and Kinematic Variables Performance Lunge Action In Fencing

Abstract


The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of muscle fatigue on attack accuracy and lower body kinematics when performing lunges in epee class fencing. Kinematics analysis consists of five phases in the lunge movement, namely Angle at initiation, Angle at termination, Range of motion, Peak range of motion, Peak angle, Peak Hip angular velocity, Peak Knee angular velocity, Peak Ankle angular velocity and Stride Length. This research method is descriptive quantitative. The number of samples was 5 city-level male fencing athletes. The research sample showed an average age of 19.68 ± 2.6 years, height 1.73 ± 4.25 m, body mass 74.5 ± 9.48 kg, BMI 22.1 ± 3.21 kg/m2 , maximum heart rate was 174.0 ± 4.63 bpm and lactic acid level was 7.9 ± 1.09 mmol. The results show that in the comparison test the average accuracy of attacks has a significant average difference (p = 0.002) before and after the occurrence of fatigue and at different levels of fatigue from all variables of the five phases, all the indicators of the kinematic variables analyzed, there are 2 phases. showed a significant average difference, namely the 3rd phase, Phase Range Of Motion  Ankle Angle (p = 0.04) and the 5th phase, Peak Angle Hip Angle (p = 0.02) and Knee Angle (p = 0.01) . Peak Ankle angular velocity (p = 0.02).
