Model Pembelajaran Story-Based Learning sebagai Strategi Pengembangan Literasi Awal Anak Usia Dini: Analisis Konseptual
Abstract
Early literacy serves as a crucial foundation for children’s cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional development. However, many early childhood learning practices in Indonesia remain teacher-centered, offering limited opportunities for narrative-based engagement. Story-Based Learning (SBL) emerges as an innovative pedagogical approach that integrates storytelling to stimulate imagination, comprehension, and expressive language. This conceptual analysis aims to examine the concept, relevance, and implementation of Story-Based Learning as a strategy for developing early literacy in early childhood education. The study employs a literature-based review focusing on research published between 2020 and 2025 from academic databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, DOAJ, ResearchGate, and SINTA. Findings indicate that SBL effectively fosters vocabulary acquisition, narrative thinking, and reading motivation through meaningful storytelling experiences. Moreover, it enhances socio-emotional awareness by enabling children to emotionally connect with characters and moral values embedded in stories. The integration of digital storytelling and culturally responsive storybooks further strengthens engagement and contextual understanding. Therefore, Story-Based Learning represents a relevant, flexible, and sustainable strategy to promote early literacy by harmonizing emotional, linguistic, and imaginative learning experiences within early childhood education contexts.
