Naida Orlena

Abstract

Parents have a great responsibility to care for and educate children for a long period of time and need to be ready to become parents, so parenthood is an important aspect of education, especially in Early Childhood Education (PAUD). However, many young parents are lacking in educating children's social emotions due to several factors that cause the inability of young parents to educate children, namely problems of time, work and other activities. The research design uses a qualitative approach using the case study method, data collection techniques by conducting interviews and documentation in the field to find out in depth the views of young parents in educating children's social emotions. Research results 1. It shows that obstacles to parenthood at a young age in developing children's social emotions include limited experience and knowledge, financial challenges, responsibilities at work, the influence of the social environment, and lack of support from family and institutions. 2. The potential of children interviewed by researchers and the results of field research show that children have great potential in understanding and managing emotions, increasing empathy skills, managing conflict and stress, and developing communication skills but still need assistance by parents and the surrounding environment. 3. Careful and planned preparation in educating children's social emotions at an early age includes understanding the characteristics of children's emotional development, choosing appropriate educational methods, utilizing technology wisely, and efforts to improve the knowledge and skills of young parents.
